BOUND BY HAND
Step into a mindful space where bookmaking becomes an art of presence, each fold, crease, and stitch a gesture of attention and care. In this workshop, working with handmade, decorative, and repurposed papers, you’ll explore the rhythm and flow of hand-bound bookmaking, learning to fold, sew, and assemble a book that reflects your own touch, your own pace, and your own creative voice.
The book you create becomes more than an object, it becomes a sanctuary, a personal place for reflection, sketches, writings, or the collection of ideas and inspirations. Each page offers space for contemplation, a gentle pause in the midst of daily life, where thoughts, memories, and creativity can unfold without pressure or expectation.
The process becomes as meaningful as the finished book: the meditative folding of paper, the mindful threading of the needle, all gestures of presence and intention. We celebrate the way creativity can ground us, connect us to our own inner rhythms, and transform simple materials into vessels of memory, imagination, and care.
By the end of our time together, you will carry with you not just a hand-bound book, but a practice, a reminder: that slowing down, paying attention, and creating with intention are gifts both to yourself and to the world around you.
“ The card I chose at the end of our gathering was perfect… “My Heart holds stories that need to be told.” … it was a joy at soul stitching to share laughter and tears. “ - Ma
“Your approach to slow stitching slowed my (very restless) mind and allowed me to appreciate the process rather than race to the finished product. A completely new concept for me, one I badly need at this point in my life.” - Sher
“ Sue brought all the materials, I only had to get myself to the farm. She also brought herself, her great spirit, and the word “intention” and posed the challenge; show us what you carry. Twelve women gathered to find out… I made this … with folds, edges cut and torn, things concealed, and loose threads which will never be trimmed or stopped from fraying.” - Ravenna
SOUL STITCHING
This hands-on workshop invites you into a gentle, restorative space where stitching becomes a meditative practice of presence, reflection, and connection. Guided by prompts, memory, and breath, poetry, and moments of silence to support inward listening, allowing each stitch to become a prayer, a rhythm, or a grounding gesture. You’ll be invited to reflect on what you carry, what you hold close, and what you are ready to release, stitching these stories, feelings, or prayers into cloth, with optional additions of found objects, words, or symbols.
Through this practice, you’ll experience stitching as a form of meditation, storytelling, and self-discovery. The workshop emphasizes trusting your hands, honoring the process, and embracing the beauty in imperfection rather than technique or perfection. You’ll explore translating memory, emotion, and whispers into stitched form, discover ing the quiet power of mending, both cloth and self. Slow stitching honors rhythm over result and process over product, offering a space for reflection, healing, and connection.
